چکیده

In [BN] the authors construct a special complex of degree 20 over M , which for an open three dimensional set parametrizes smooth complex surfaces of degree four invariant which are Heisenberg invariant, and each member of the family contains 32 lines but only 16 skew lines. The coordinates of the lines however need not be real. For a point l in a Zariski open set of M an algorithm is presented which evaluates the real coefficients of l in terms of the Kcoordinates of l. The author uses a code in Maple which allows him to construct very explicit examples of real smooth Heisenberg invariant Kummer surfaces containing the special configuration of 16 real skew lines. An example is presented at the end of the paper. MSC (2000): 14Nxx,14Lxx,54Dxx,53Cxx,32Mxx.

Real quartic surfaces containing 16 skew lines

It is well known that there is an open three-dimensional subvariety Ms of the Grassmannian of lines in P3 which parametrizes smooth irreducible complex surfaces of degree 4 which are Heisenberg invariant, and each quartic contains 32 lines but only 16 skew lines, being determined by its configuration of lines, are called a double 16. We consider here the problem of visualizing in a computer the...

Smooth Kummer Surfaces in Projective Three-space

In this note we prove the existence of smooth Kummer surfaces in projective three-space containing sixteen mutually disjoint smooth rational curves of any given degree. Introduction Let X be a smooth quartic surface in projective three-space P. As a consequence of Nikulin’s theorem [6] X is a Kummer surface if and only if it contains sixteen mutually disjoint smooth rational curves. The classic...

Ruled Quartic Surfaces, Models and Classification

New historical aspects of the classification, by Cayley and Cremona, of ruled quartic surfaces and the relation to string models and plaster models are presented. In a ‘modern’ treatment of the classification of ruled quartic surfaces the classical one is corrected and completed. A conceptual proof is presented of a result of Rohn concerning curves in P × P of bi-degree (2, 2). The string model...

This paper deals with surfaces with many lines. It is well-known that a cubic contains 27 of them and that the maximal number for a quartic is 64. In higher degree the question remains open. Here we study classical and new constructions of surfaces with high number of lines. We obtain in particular a symmetric octic with 352 lines. Cubic surface with 27 lines

Heisenberg-invariant Kummer Surfaces Ii

is the closure of the locus parametrizing H22-invariant quartics with 16 skew lines. The smooth surfaces of this type are parametrized by a non-empty open set N s of N . These surfaces are Kummer surfaces associated to abelian surfaces with a (1,3)–polarization. The action of the Heisenberg group on the Kummer surface corresponds to a level-2 structure on the abelian surface. If A is an abelian...
